Volunteering in East Lothian

Volunteering can come in various forms, we have roles that involve supporting a unit, admin up to running or being part of a unit team.

Please reach out and we can find a volunteering role to suit your time and skills and help you gain skills in the process.

Current Volunteers

We update our volunteers with our monthly newsletter sent out the first Monday of each month. This is the best way to receive the most up to date information including updates from our County Commissioner, Guiding Development, Allison Cargill House as well as news from units across the county.

If you don’t receive the newsletter please log into your Girlguiding Go Membership account and update your marketing settings, to enable marketing. Please also check your Junk or Spam.

Yes, the county runs local events for our members. If you are signed up to the Monthly Newsletter you will be able to find out more. You can also speak to your Division Commissioner. If you are unsure about who this is please check out our Who’s Who page here.

We have a County PR and Comms adviser, please contact them to discuss your unit needs more. This can include help with advertising for volunteers, advice on social media, help with material for an event or just a general chat.

Yes, there are a variety of opportunities subject to avalibility, membership section and fundiraising that could be on offer. Examples include events/trips organised through Girlguiding East Lothian and through Girlguiding Scotland, international jamborees or trips to WAGGGS World Centres.

We are always looking for volunteers. This could be in a variety of ways, not all volunteering is helping with a local unit. The best way to find out more is to register your interest here and we can match you with the appropriate local area and you can discuss what time you give or what form of volunteering suits you.

Allison Cargill House

ACH as it is also known is our local guiding house that can be used for overnights, sleepovers, camps, training and it can be rented by external people and groups. You can find out more on the website here.
