County Duke of Edinburgh Adviser

In this role you’ll help girls do their DofE and support the volunteers running the programme. You’ll work in the county team to motivate and guide volunteers leading the DofE programme in their units.

Role Description

Ranger Adviser

Ranger Adviser will advise, motivate and communicate information about the Ranger section to the District, Division and County Team and other guiding members, giving more girls and volunteers ways to access opportunities for development, challenge and adventure. Advisers are often responsible for helping to create opportunities for events and take an active part in the wider team. As an Adviser, you will attend meetings and have regular contact with other Advisers, teams at other levels and Leaders. You will be responsible for giving support to Leaders in East Lothian by keeping up to date with all aspects of your area of expertise including changes to programme, new initiatives and opportunities for members to get involved.

Section Advisers are women over 18 years old. They should already be, or be willing to become, a member of Girlguiding.


Young Leader Adviser

Advisers are often responsible for helping to create opportunities for events and take an active part in the wider team. As an Adviser, you will attend meetings and have regular contact with other Advisers, teams at other levels and Leaders. You will be responsible for giving support to Leaders in East Lothian by keeping up to date with all aspects of your area of expertise including changes to programme, new initiatives and opportunities for members to get involved.

Direct Commissioner

Pencaitland, Ormiston & Gifford

In this role, you’ll be responsible for and accountable to the whole membership of your district, and for ensuring the delivery of quality guiding.

This is a big responsibility and also a brilliant opportunity to have a real impact. As commissioner, you’ll provide inspirational leadership to your local team as you work together to create exciting opportunities for girls and young women. Of course, you’ll also have lots of fun as you get to know the volunteers you support.


Outdoor Adviser

An adviser is a specialist in an aspect of the guiding programme or a specific activity.

Your role will be to share information about your specialism with other guiding members. It’s up to you to make sure that everyone who needs to know something knows it!
